Hi Dr. My mom has early stage of dementia (confirmed it on MRI by a specialist in Japan) and thinking about giving her Keto drink (I am trying first, then her). But the thing is she is in late 70s and it is very difficult to change her diet 1) I am not in Japan hence cannot monitor her diet 2) typical Japanese diet is based on carbohydrate aka white rice. Do you think Keto drink could potentially change her cognitive part of her brain…?

  2. Yoshi, the brown seaweed has a carbohydrate inhibitor in it. I always wondered when living in Okinawa why the Japanese could eat so much rice and be so thin. I realized that the seaweed inhibits 20-30% of the carb absorption. I think adding exogenous ketones would help.
