What is MicroNeedling?

MicroNeedling treatments are performed with a special pen, which has very fine needles that injure the skin at a specified depth to stimulate collagen and elastin, and, therefore, results in increasing the thickness of the skin. The resulting micro-channels also ensure the best penetrating of hyaluronic acid serum, which makes the skin more plump, youthful and supple in appearance. It is sometimes referred to as “collagen induction therapy.”

The treatment takes about 20-30 minutes depending on the areas needed to be treated.  Most people need 4-6 treatments every 3-4 weeks to see a difference.

Benefits

MicroNeedling has been demonstrated to help with:
  • Acne & Acne Scaring
  • Hair Loss
  • Dark Spots or Hyper-pigmentation of the Skin
  • Large Poors
  • Reduced Skin Elasticity
  • Scars
  • Stretch Marks
  • Sun Damage
  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles
MicroNeedling is less expensive than laser treatments, which cost about four times as much.  MicroNeedling may work better for those with darker skin tones because it doesn’t involve the heat that many laser treatments do, which can effect your skins pigmentation or color.

Risks

MicroNeedling is considered safe, but like any procedure, it has risks
  • It may take 3-7 days to heal depending on the depth of the needle treatment
  • You may experience minor pain after the procedure and your skin may be red for a few days.
  • You may experience some tightness or flaking of the skin during the healing process
  • It is not recommended if you are prone to forming keloids, large bubble like scars on the skin.
  • MicroNeedling creates tiny holes in the skin, which could let germs enter. However, when performed by a licensed aesthetician or doctor and appropriate sterile technique is used, the risk of infection is very low.
