Kelly Swart, Here’s my story of fatty liver.
      3/3/2015 TRIGLYCERIDES 512 mg/dL
At this point, my doctor said the next time she saw me would probably be in a hospital with pancreatitis. That scared me so much that I began trying to transition to a ketogenic diet.

      5/12/2015 TRIGLYCERIDES 470 mg/dL
Within just 2 months, I was already beginning to see results, though I had not fully gone keto.

From that ^ date to the next entry, I cleaned out cabinets and the pantry, removing ALL sugar foods, all high fructose corn syrup-laden foods, and all carb foods. I got serious about testing my blood sugar. I started riding my bike – nothing serious, just leisurely rides of about 1.5 miles around our neighborhood. I experienced “ketosis” for the first time and I felt AMAZING! It was so thrilling to feel STRONG and ENERGETIC for the first time in years! I dove in even harder and began aiming for zero carbs, moderate protein and increased my fat intake with fatty meats, coconut oil, avocados, MCT oil, etc.

      7/12/2016 TRIGLYCERIDES 174 mg/dL
This was my “victory” date. I haven’t had another, more recent blood test, but I will soon. Ketogenics absolutely changed my life, and probably saved it, too. I am 55 years old, and I feel better than I have since my mid 30’s. Also worth noting: my pre-diabetes symptoms went away, completely.

Deb Shaffer That is awesome! Thanks for sharing! I’ve been on ketogenic diet for a year on Jan 26th for insulin resistance. Within two months, the difference was profound. I feel better than I have in years. I am still having insulin issues (we think as response to protein) but that can take quite a while to reverse. All the best to you!

    • Too much protein, sweeteners that raise insulin slightly, Muscle gain with fat loss (muscle weighs twice as much as fat) . . . there are other reasons. . . follow up with me in my office if you’re still struggling

  2. I was diagnosed with this as well as an enlarged liver. Hoping it gets better with the prescribed conservative treatment. Also been doing ketogenic diet for about 6 months now.

I have had Hep C for years and now cured with Harvoni. As if that wasn’t hell enough, now I was told I have fatty liver disease. I am so sick of my stomach being bloated out all the time and I work out three times a week for 2/12 hours each. Help me please.
